SURVIVAL CHECKLIST
FEMA and the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security recommend the following basic
MINIMUMAL essentials for survival preparedness:
·        Water - 1 gal per day for each person and pet, for at least 3 days, for drinking
and sanitation.

·        Food - Minimum 3-day supply of non-perishable food.
·        Manual can opener and eating utensils.
·    
·        Radio, battery-powered or hand-crank, and NOAA Weather Radio with tone
alert and extra batteries. (Light sticks are also convenient to have on hand.)
·        Flashlight and extra batteries
·        First aid kit
·        Whistle to signal for help
·        Dust mask to help filter contaminated air
·        Plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
·        Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
·        Wrench, pliers and/or gas shut-off tool to turn off utilities
·        Local maps

Individuals are also advised to take into consideration any special needs of family
members and pets:
·        Prescription medications and glasses, hearing aid batteries
·        Infant formula and diapers
·        Pet food, leash and collar

·        Important family documents such as copies of insurance policies,
identification and bank account records stored in waterproof, portable container
·        Books, games, puzzles or other activities for children
·        Keep a picture of your family and pets with your emergency kit, in case you
get separated during a disaster.
